February Meeting Recap

The ITE Southern California and Central Coast Sections held a joint meeting at the City of Thousand Oaks on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. This meeting opened with remarks from ITE Western District Treasurer/Secretary candidates Neelam Dorman and Jonathan Hofert. Ms. Dorman is currently serving as both the First Past President for the Southern California Section and the Career Guidance Chair for the Western District. Johnathan Hofert is currently serving as both the Past President and Webmaster for the Riverside/San Bernardino Section.

The presentation topic was “Erbes Road Improvements”. Clifford G. Finley and Dan Lazlo, both from the City of Thousand Oaks, discussed the project. The objective was to widen the road and install underground dry utilities. Project challenges included handling complex grading issues, dealing with numerous oak trees, constructing retaining walls on steep slopes, handling complex easement and right of way acquisition issues, and continuously maintaining two lanes of vehicle traffic along this heavily traveled roadway. Effective leadership, teamwork, and public outreach practices led to the successful completion of this project and positive feedback from neighborhood residents.
